1. Prawn Ball Stall "虾球"
This is our very first food stall that we visit. The prawn is very fresh and sweet with add-on with chili sauce, cost NTD 70 for two pieces or NTD 100 for three pieces. It is located a kind front of Jiu fe Old Street.
2. Cheese milk sticks (起士牛奶棒)
That delicious buttery aroma brought us to the front of this stall, the cheese sticks is good flaky and crispy like churros.
3. Daifuku Strawberry Mochi
Bought a freshly-made strawberry mochi, bought two pieces for NTD 100 and got cute box to go.
4. Ice Cream Puff
Made by Misty Cake, you can choose any two scoops of ice cream which they’ll sandwich between two halves of a large, flaky puff pastry. We went with strawberry and chocolate for NTD 130 or you can choose other puff flavor such as cream puff, chocolate, taro, matcha and sweet potato.
6. Taro and sweet potato balls (芋圓 and 地瓜圓)
You can find these in dessert shops throughout Taiwan, but the ones in Jiufen are especially good making Taro and sweet potato balls (芋圓 and 地瓜圓). The best places to getthem are Lai Ah Po Taro Balls (賴阿婆芋圓) right on the Old Street and Ah Gan Taro Balls (阿柑姨芋圓) up a staircase from the Old Street where you can get window seat eating view like this. The balls are fairly bland with chewy texture served hot or on ice with in a slightly sweet syrup, and come with a variety of beans.
&. Peanut Ice Cream Roll (阿珠雪在燒)
Inside this crepe wrap is peanut candy shavings, coriander, and two scoops of ice cream, usually taro and vanilla. There’s just something about either the freshness of their crepes or the quality of their ice cream that make it so good. Cost NTD 40 for each roll.
8. Fish or Meat Ball Soup
Jiufen Old Street are also known for their fish ball and meat ball soup respectively. Nonetheless, this combination meat ball soup we had from some random restaurant was pretty darn good. I don’t know what they’re made of but they came in different sizes and appeared to be a mix of fish, pork, squid, and vegetable. They’re hearty and fun to eat. Usually cost NTD 50 for each bowl,
