Ximending is a very popular and crowded district in Taipei, many people called it "Harajuku of Taipei" and "Shibuya of Taipei". It is located near MRT Ximen Station (西門站) exit 6. Nearby you might find many hotels, clubs, karaoke palace and of course many stores for shopping or stall that sell handmade products. You can find many type of entertainment around here, including street singer, artist, performance. In some special weekend like ghost month or Halloween, many people dressed up scary or people using cosplay really interesting area.
Red House - 西門紅樓
Just wandering around and shopping is not complete without foods hahaha :). I have been here many times, so I've tried many food from street food, small stall and restaurant in the area. See the list here:
- Modern Toilet Restaurant, the food not too impressive but love the decoration.
- Ay-Chung flour rice noodle, famous for its thin rice noodles (or vermicelli) soup with pig's intestines called mian xian (麵線). You must try it, the noodles are delicious.
- Philly Cheese Steaks, recommenced burger and fried place.
- So Free Pizza, a delicious 8 inch thin firewood pizza.
- Watami, a delicious Japanese restaurant.
- Sa Fa HK style Restaurant, a delicious fried rice, noodles and other Hongkong style food restaurant.
- A delicious sweet or salty grilled mochi in small snack street.
- Cheese fried potato in small snack street.
- A fresh mango and strawberry shaved ice dessert in 幸春三兄妹冰品店
